How do we handle your injury case?

How do you know who to pick as your injury attorney?

It’s a legitimate question for sure.

What I would like to do in this blog is to give you a sense of what our Law Firm does when we represent an injured victim.

Usually the first contact we have with the injured person is by a phone call.

We have a detailed intake form that one of our two paralegals discusses with you over the phone.

The value of this basic form is that we can immediately determine whether we can help you or not.

After my paralegal gets the basic information from you, I review the intake and talk to you about the case.

We ask a lot of questions during the call not to be nosy but to understand your injury claim and the best way possible way to help you.

After our initial phone conversation we usually set up a time to meet with you in person and go over the case.

We always work around your schedule.

If you work outside the home during the day, we can meet you in the evening.

If weeknights are bad for you we can meet with you on the weekends.

The idea behind all this is to make it as easy as possible on you.

We try to make it so that all you have to try to do is get better.

After our 1st meeting, we will often contact the insurance company for the person who caused your injuries.

Legally they are called the tortfeasor which is another word for the wrongdoer.

We will ask you to sign some authorizations, so that we can start to get your records together.

From there, we will monitor how you’re coming along medically and where you’re going for treatment and follow-up.

One of our paralegals or I will call you on a regular basis to find out how you’re doing.

Then our paralegal will type up a memo outlining what your current treatment is.

We will continue that process until we accumulate all of the records necessary to pursue your claim.

When you’re back to your baseline or when you have plateaued in terms of a final recovery, we will send what is called a demand package over to the insurance company for the wrongdoer.

In the demand package we outline to the insurance company what the basis is for asking for the amount of $$ we want to settle your case.

Then negotiations commence with the insurance company.

We will stay on it until we get a $$ offer that is fair to you.

I want to reassure you that no settlement without your express agreement that you want to settle your case.

At the Law Firm of Pittsburgh wrongful death, medical malpractice, car accident and slip and fall attorney Bernard Tully YOU control your case NOT the attorney.

That sums up in a general way how we handle personal injury lawsuits.

Any questions?

Thanks for reading our blog.

You are the best
