Why Bill Cosby Can Run But He Can’t Hide..

Comedian Bill Cosby’s legal nightmares keep going on and on.

Many readers feel that he is trying to use his status as an international star to his advantage in his legal cases.

For example, in a criminal case, when the police arrest someone he is arraigned.
Then the accused has a preliminary hearing within 3 to 10 days of his arraignment.

Not so in Bill Cosby’s case.
Cosby took an appeal of the decision to even file charges against him to the Pennsylvania Superior Court which denied his request to throw the charges out.

Many are angry because it appears like people with a lot of money are treated differently in the legal arena than folks with little or no money.
The latest Cosby move adds to this feeling that wealthy people get special privileges in the law.

Cosby recently argued that he should not have to give his deposition in the case HE filed against some of the women who accused him of sexual assault.
As stated above, this is pretty incredible since it was Cosby himself who filed the lawsuit against the women.
Yet he is arguing that the women should be subject to a deposition surrounding the facts of the case, but not him.

Think about that.
Pittsburgh wrongful death, medical malpractice, car accident and criminal defense attorney Bernie Tully thinks Cosby IS trying to use his wealth and influence to his advantage in the legal proceedings.

But this does not get Pittsburgh wrongful death, medical malpractice, car accident and criminal defense attorney Bernie Tully upset in the least.

The reason why is the old saying from boxer Joe Louis that you can run but you can’t hide.

Cosby can make every legal argument he wants regarding his cases.
After all that’s his right and it is guaranteed in our system of justice.

But I’m not worried that his money will win the day in the end.
Why?
Because I think his case will be decided based on the facts.
And not based upon Cosby’s wealth or influence.
Check out the Legal Intelligencer article below to see why many people are outraged at Cosby’s legal shenanigans.
Just don’t get too excited about it because it’s not going to influence the ultimate result in the case.
In my opinion at least…

“At a hearing on Bill Cosby’s breach of contract lawsuit against the woman who accused him of sexual assault and her lawyers, an attorney for Cosby argued that the comedian should not have to sit for a deposition while his criminal case is pending.

The argument arose at a hearing on motions to dismiss Cosby’s lawsuit against his accuser, Andrea Constand, as well as her mother, her lawyers, and the owner of the National Enquirer. All of the defendants filed motions to dismiss, which U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania took under advisement. On the stay issue, Robreno asked the parties to submit letters to him on their arguments.
Samuel Silver of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis, an attorney for Cosby, acknowledged that it would be unusual, but said it “makes sense” to delay discovery of the plaintiff while his criminal case proceeds in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. He said he would prefer that depositions of everyone except Cosby, including third parties and defendants, would be able to proceed.”

Have a great 4th of July!
