We understand that when you are involved in an auto accident, you’re likely going to be startled. However, there are 5 simple things we would like you to do at the scene of an accident, so we can better assist you.
Car Accident Checklist
First, you want to get the person’s name, address, phone number, and car insurance information. This will allow us to quickly reach out to the person you were involved in the auto accident with and their insurance company.
Second, we ask you to take a couple of photos for proof of the accident. We encourage people to take a photo or two of the point of the impact between the two cars as well as the driver’s license plate. This would be really helpful because sometimes the owner of the car is not the same as the person who is driving the car.
Third, you never want to amid fault or accuse someone of being the one at fault. This is because it could cause an argument and who knows what will happen. At the scene of your auto accident, it’s important to stay calm and just gather as much information as you can.
Fourth, if it’s the other person’s fault you want to call the police. When the police are there, they will make a report and we will then be able to get a copy as soon as we get involved.
Fifth, if you’re hurting you should definitely ask to get treatment. Please call an ambulance and go to the emergency room if you are hurting. If you’re not hurting, there’s no need to do that.
This is a simple car accident checklist you should do at the scene of an accident. This checklist will help your attorney get you the best money and the best recovery for the case. In short, it matters.
