Wow, a lot has happened since I last wrote on my bio page.
Maybe you can relate to some of these changes in your life too.
1. I have become pretty religious as I get older. Doing exclusively personal injury work may have played a part in this because we have seen all the suffering our clients go through. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord God and Savior. When I think about what Jesus went through on the cross, namely, His crucifixion, I am just in awe of His love. Other faiths, including Judaism, Buddhism, Muslim, or some combination of all the above, are just as valid as my faith. I honestly make no judgment in that regard. We have represented clients who are of all faiths and have gotten them very good settlements in their personal Injury cases. It is just what most makes sense to me. Knowing that Jesus loves me hopefully helps me be more loving and kind to others especially my clients. A quiet acceptance of the love God has for all of us helps me get through the craziness of life. Perhaps you feel the same way. In the end, are we not all brothers sisters in Christ?
2. Family Life – Boy a lot has happened.
Katie Tully my youngest daughter received her PhD in psychology from Long Island University since my last post. Congratulations Dr Katie! Also, my daughter Jessica( a lawyer) married a fellow lawyer Kevin Horne at State College in 2023. Jessica works in the field of special education law for children with disabilities and Kevin is a public defender.
They now have a beautiful baby girl named Kennedy. So Michelle and I have another granddaughter! Imagine our joy! My son Kevin(a lawyer) and his wife Brandy have two great children Lyla and Cal. They live in Butler, PA. My other daughter Elizabeth, is happily married to her husband, Ryan. They also have 3 beautiful children, namely Ben, Evan, and Adalyn. They live in Des Moines, Iowa.
3. What do I do when I am not working? – Well, Michael (of the father and son law firm of Tully and Tully) and I try to be accessible to clients every day even on weekends.
When the Steelers used to be really good our old joke was the only exception to client availability was during Steeler games. Now not so much. Lol.
4. Golf – what I am trying to do now is get into golf. It sure is fun to hit the golf ball straight and long although that seldom happens. If you, the reader, happen to love golf, you know that golf teaches all of us humility. Watching the pros make it so easy during the Masters or other PGA tournaments is awesome. I noticed that unlike some sports like football for example, the players on the golf tour are not egotists. They just quietly go about their business. That is what we try to do at the Tully and Tully Law Firm. Namely, we try to get you a great tax-free settlement of your injury case.
5. Baseball – If you are as old as I am, you remember when the Pittsburgh Pirates were consistently a good baseball team. We had players like Roberto Clemente, Bill Mazeroski, Willie Stargel, and relief ace Kent Tekuleve. Boy, how I miss those players and those great Pirate world champion teams of 1960, 1971 and 1979.
6. Football – I still root for the Steelers, but I’ve gotten away from watching every Steeler game. I also like the Philadelphia Eagles too. I especially like the Eagles’ work ethic.
7. I still follow the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sidney Crosby – Crosby seems like a quiet genuinely good person who puts the team above himself. It will be interesting to see how the kid responds to the Penguin rebuilding program.
8. We still follow and sometimes watch Penn State and Pitt football games as well as Duquesne basketball games.
9. Guns – it took me 40 years, but I finally got around to shooting a gun, and I like it. I encourage anyone who has never fired a gun to take classes to learn basic self-defense gun safety. It can save your life.
10. Exercise – physical activity- I’ve been walking or running at least 5.5 miles every day for the last 30 years. I am convinced that is a major reason for my good health. Still below my high school wrestling weight. lol
I lift light weights for at least 15 minutes each day. Maybe you agree with me that lifting weights helps keep our bones in good shape.
11. Entertainment – Cruises – One of the favorite things my wife, Michelle, and I like to do is take Royal Caribbean cruises. We have went on cruises with my daughter Katie and Elizabeth and her family. We have also in the last two years went on winter cruises with my son Kevin and Brandy, his wife, and their children. It is a blast.
12. Work – I love working with my son, Michael Tully Esq. at the father and son law firm of Tully and Tully. Michael is so caring and compassionate with his clients that it makes me proud to see. I have no plans to retire. Why? Simply because I love my job too much to give it up. Period. For that I thank all my past and current clients. We treat all of our clients like they are family.
We have made staying in touch with our injury clients a TOP priority at our law firm. If a current client calls we are almost always able to get back to them within 1 hour of the call.
Doing so lets the clients know their case matters to us.
That is the kind of caring, compassionate service you will get if you let us represent you in your serious injury case!
Thank you very much for reading this.

Michael J. Tully, Attorney at Law
I was raised in the North Hills of Pittsburgh along with my three sisters (including a twin) and my brother. I graduated from Sewickley Academy in 2010 and then attended Pennsylvania State University. Our family is divided between Penn State and Pitt supporters, which adds some entertainment to family gatherings. It was always my plan to become an attorney because I worked at my dad’s firm growing up, which led to me applying for law school after college.
I graduated from Duquesne University School of Law in 2017. While in law school, I was awarded the “CALI: Excellence for the Future” in Trial Advocacy as the top student in the class by the former President Judge of Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, the Honorable Jeffrey A. Manning.
After passing the bar exam, I worked at an insurance defense firm that defended those who had been accused of causing an injury, which is the exact opposite of what I do now. I find it more fulfilling to seek justice for those who have been injured at no fault of their own, such as when you are rear-ended in an auto accident, rather than saving an insurance company every penny possible at the injured plaintiff’s expense. I learned a lot about how these insurance companies operate and in the way they seek to pay injured plaintiffs as little as possible to go away forever.
I am glad to have returned to representing plaintiffs and those who have been hurt. I have seen that an unexpected accident/injury can completely upend a client’s life. If that unfortunately occurs, as their attorney, you are often the only person that can be counted on to be in their corner. It is a great feeling when you can deliver a win for someone who is hurting.
It won’t take long before you realize our firm is unique. We are easy to talk to, are non-judgmental, and we keep you updated with the status of your case.
I play ice hockey in a recreational league, I love the summer weather, I live downtown, and I hope the Pittsburgh Pirates win a World Series in my lifetime (which may be asking too much).
