Q: Attorney Tully, can a parent carry a pocket knife on school grounds? My son is in elementary school and I want to know about my rights when I am dropping him off at school.
A: You can be charged with a criminal offense, even as the parent of a child, for taking a knife onto school grounds. The Pennsylvania Superior Court just affirmed this ruling in what is called a case of first impression. There are some exceptions to this but why take a chance? Just do not carry a knife or other weapon on school grounds and you’ll be fine. Call me. Bernie
