WHAT IS NEW AT THE TULLY LAW FIRM:
Great news! Everyone at the Tully Law Firm has received their first Covid-19 vaccination shot! Please continue to mask up, socially distance and wash your hands. Try to also schedule an appointment for a vaccination, even if you have to travel a little bit further to get it. One of our paralegals, Denise, had to drive to Ohio to get the shot. But Denise did get it. LOL
COMMON QUESTIONS CLIENTS ASK US CORNER – CAN YOU GO AFTER THE WRONGDOER PERSONALLY IN A CAR ACCIDENT CASE?
Can you go after the wrongdoer personally in addition to getting whatever amount they have in auto insurance coverage? Legally it is hard. The first issue is whether the wrongdoer is married, or if their bank account/house are in joint names. If so, you cannot go after those assets. You can only go after items that are SOLELY in the wrongdoer’s name. Also, if you want to go after the wrongdoer personally, it will result in a significant delay (potentially years) because the insurance company will not give up their policy unless the case is fully resolved. Many car accident victims are unfortunately limited to, at most, recovering the auto policy of the wrongdoer and possibly their own underinsurance limits. Sometimes though that is enough!
HOME EXERCISE PROGRAMS AND INSURANCE COMPANIES:
If you are involved in an accident, you may receive a referral to undergo physical therapy. After a course of physical therapy, physicians often give you the option of continuing to receive treatment at their facility or continue doing your exercises at home. The choice is yours. But know the insurance companies give no $$ to an injured party saying they continued to do the therapy exercises at home, rather than at the physical therapist’s office. Most insurance companies just don’t believe you and will not increase the value of your claim if you say you continued your exercises at home. Unfair but true!

Fans will FINALLY be able to return to root for their favorite teams, in person, this upcoming baseball season. The Pirates will allow 20% of PNC Park’s maximum capacity for in-person fans with season ticket holders getting first priority. Even if the Pirates are terrible this year, the future is promising. Watch Polanco this year!

WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF APRIL FOOLS DAY:
Be on the lookout for practical jokes on April Fools Day. Although we are all familiar with the unofficial holiday, did you know that the origin of it dates back to 1582 when France switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar? In the Julian Calendar, New Years was on April 1st, but in the new calendar the date for New Years was changed to January 1st. Those who kept up the tradition of celebrating the New Year on April 1st were known as “April Fools” for refusing to comply with the new calendar. Thank you Michael!
