WHAT’S NEW AT THE TULLY LAW FIRM: BLOG BOOK:

We have been reviewing our blogs on injury law over the last few years. There are over 100 of them. What we are thinking of doing is binding them together as a book. The Blog Book will include an index page for easy reader access. The purpose of the Blog Book will be to help explain in an easy way what is involved in all aspects of serious injury and death cases. We still have to work out the book title. Michael believes the title Michael J. Tully, Esquire’s Blog Book has a real nice ring to it! Uhh, Michael we need to talk. lol Please let us know if you want a FREE copy of the book when it is done.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS IN THE HALL OF FAME:

The road to Canton, Ohio travels well through Pittsburgh. New Steelers enshrined in the Hall of Fame this year (and last) include Coach Bill Cowher, Troy Polamalu, Donnie Shell, Bill Nunn and Alan Faneca. This is absolutely fantastic and congratulations to everyone!

PITTSBURGH PENGUINS:

What do Penguin General Manager Ron Hexall and Michael Tully have in common? The answer is they both played hockey at the Rostraver Ice Garden in Belle Vernon, PA. Wow!

UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH AND PENN STATE FOOTBALL:

It seems like both teams are going to do very well this Fall! Go teams!

PITTSBURGH PIRATES:

Well the recent draft went very well. Do you think the future looks promising for the Bucs?

THE 4 AREAS COVERED DURING YOUR DEPOSITION:

Clients understandably want to know what to expect when they sit for their injury case deposition. What we have learned through 40 years of doing this is that defense attorneys tend to cover the same 4 areas of inquiry in every deposition. The 1st area covers your general background information such as your date of birth, education level and marital status. 2nd the defense attorney asks you about the accident, how it occurred, and what you remember about it, etc. 3rd our clients are asked about their course of treatment following the accident and all of their accident-related injuries. Lastly, our clients are asked how the accident-related injuries still affect them on a daily basis. Depositions last about 2 hours. Although doing your deposition can be stressful, it really helps when you are prepared and know the general topics that will be covered! We will be there to help you during your deposition.

ECONOMIC LOSS REPORTS AND WHY THEY ARE CRITICAL TO YOUR CLAIM:

For most clients who are seriously injured, or even killed in car accidents, one of the most important steps to take to increase the $$ value of the claim is to get an economic loss report. An economic loss report documents a client’s lost income, loss of household services and all other future losses including one’s pension/401K benefits, sustained as a result of the serious injury or even the death of a loved one. Only an expert is able to draft an economic loss report for you. They need to have the requisite qualifications to defend the conclusions of their report when they are cross-examined. Particularly in death cases, these economic loss reports greatly increase the $$ value of the claim. These reports can literally make or break your case. We now get them in almost every serious injury case. Thus getting economic reports can put clients in the best possible position to get the most $$ for their case.

COSBY CASE:

We make no judgment on the guilt or innocence of actor Bill Cosby in the allegations against him. But legally there was a sound basis for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court throwing out the charges against him. The fix was not in. Why? Mainly because the prior District Attorney gave his word to Cosby’s attorneys that nothing would be used against him if Cosby gave his civil deposition. Then a new District Attorney came in and used Cosby’s civil deposition against him in the criminal case. See the dilemma? What are your thoughts on this case?

JOKE OF THE MONTH:

Why do we tell actors to “break a leg”? Because every play has a cast!

WORD OF THE MONTH:

Parry. Verb. To ward off or to avert. During the fencing match, the opponents parried each other’s attacks, waiting for the moment to strike back. (P.S. my grandson Evan just went to a fencing summer camp.)
