What should you do if the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issues a recall notice for a product you’ve been using for a long time that may be dangerous to you?
Some of you might remember that many years ago there was a controversy regarding the harmful effects of coffee. With the coffee controversy, there was a study that was published that stated too much coffee can be very detrimental to your health. Then, about a year later, another study was conducted that said coffee can be beneficial to you by creating some immunity that can prevent certain types of cancer if you drink it every day.
On one hand, you have scientists saying that coffee causes cancer and on the other hand you have scientists that say it may be helpful for you. What do you do and who can you trust?
My advice for these types of situations is to listen to the FDA’s advice that you read or hear about. Don’t get too excited about just any studies you find on the internet today. The FDA is held to a higher standard.
Zantac May Cause Cancer
A practical example of this would be FDA’s recent ruling on Zantac. The FDA held that Zantac may cause cancer to people who have used that product for a significant period. This is because some of the chemicals that are inside this medicine are cancer-causing agents (carcinogens).
So, what should you do if you’ve been taking Zantac for heartburn, anxiety, or something else and have been for many years? It is natural to be worry that Zantac may cause cancer, but my advice is to consult with an attorney who can advise you whether or not you have a claim against the company that produced Zantac.
While not all people who use Zantac have a valid claim, in certain situations consumers can qualify to make a claim against the producers for causing injury or potentially getting cancer. The good news is just about any attorney you consult with is going to review your situation and likely won’t charge you for the research they do.
We may also be able to help you with any Zantac-related claims as well!
