A: Yes, a jury recently awarded a $1.7 million verdict to the family of a three-month-old girl who died from a brain injury because their doctor failed to diagnose a bacterial meningitis infection. The hospital where the deceased child was misdiagnosed was also held responsible. The doctor tragically diagnosed the child with a middle-ear infection and discharged her with a prescription for amoxicillin.
