Philadelphia, PA (April 17, 2025) – Police are searching for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run crash in Philadelphia that killed a woman late Thursday night, April 17.
According to police, the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cottman Avenue and Brous Avenue. Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that a dark-colored SUV was traveling eastbound on the 2800 block of Cottman Ave. At the same time, a woman was attempting to cross Cottman from the north side to the south side.
The SUV struck the woman and dragged her. Following the collision, the driver of the dark-colored SUV fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to police. The victim had severe injuries, including head and chest trauma and internal bleeding; she was rushed to the hospital by medics and died an hour later from her injuries. Officials said more information would be released at a later time. In the meantime, the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
