Bensalem Twp, PA – Fatal Vehicle Crash on I-95 in Lower Bucks Co

Bensalem Township, PA (April 18, 2025) – A pedestrian was killed early Thursday morning, April 17, after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 95 in Lower Bucks County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The crash occurred around 2:45 a.m. on I-95 northbound in Bensalem Township, less than a mile from the Bristol Township line. As they pulled up at the scene, troopers found the 46-year-old Philadelphia man who had been driving the vehicle performing chest compressions on the injured pedestrian, state police said.

Troopers began life-saving measures, and an ambulance arrived at the scene, state police confirmed. The injured man was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia and was pronounced dead at 3:35 a.m. at the hospital by the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to state police, the 46-year-old Philadelphia driver was traveling in the center lane of the highway when his vehicle struck the pedestrian on the driver’s side front. The driver remained at the scene and is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing state police investigation.

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased victim’s loved ones.

Serious Car Accidents in Pennsylvania

Thousands of car accidents happen on Pennsylvania’s highways every year, making them a terrible reality. Collisions may cause major injuries, property damage, and legal issues on both minor country roads and major freeways like I-76. Drivers may handle these difficult situations more easily if they are aware of the prevalent causes, legal issues, and what to do following an accident.

In Pennsylvania, careless conduct, speeding, distracted driving, and bad weather are all common causes of auto accidents. In places like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, where traffic is high, fender benders and multi-vehicle incidents are common. In addition, deer crossings, low visibility, and slippery roads frequently result in accidents in rural locations throughout the winter.

Because Pennsylvania has a choice no-fault insurance system, drivers have the option of either full or restricted tort coverage. While full tort permits more extensive legal action, limited tort limits the capacity to claim for pain and suffering unless the injuries are substantial. Determining your alternatives following an accident requires an understanding of your insurance coverage.

Drivers should put safety first after a collision by looking for injuries, dialing 911, and, if at all feasible, relocating to a secure area. Since a police report might be helpful for submitting insurance claims, it is imperative that the collision be reported to law enforcement. If legal action is required, obtaining evidence—such as photographs, witness accounts, and medical records—can also be beneficial.

Whether coping with modest damage or major losses, knowing Pennsylvania’s insurance regulations and traffic laws may help make a tough situation easier to handle. Following an accident, being aware and ready can assist in safeguarding your rights and financial security.
