Cumberland Twp, PA - Victims Airlifted After Motorcycle Crash on US Ave

Cumberland Twp, PA – Victims Airlifted After Motorcycle Crash on US Ave

Cumberland Township, PA (July 13, 2025) – A medical helicopter was called to the scene of a motorcycle crash in Cumberland Township on Saturday afternoon, July 12.

According to Adams County dispatchers, the first calls came in around 4:05 p.m. for a crash at the intersection of United States Avenue and Emmittsburg Road. Dispatchers were able to confirm that a medical helicopter was called to the scene of the crash, but no patient information is available. Units from the Gettysburg Borough Police Department also responded to the scene. However, no further details were released, and an investigation is still ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their family members at this time. We wish them a rapid recovery.

Motorcycle Accidents in Pennsylvania

Imagine cruising along a winding Pennsylvania backroad or navigating a busy urban intersection when, in a split second, a careless driver merges into your lane or turns across your path. Motorcycle accidents often strike without warning, and their consequences can be catastrophic. Without the physical protection of a car frame, even low-speed collisions can lead to life-altering injuries, from fractured limbs and spinal trauma to traumatic brain injuries.

Pennsylvania’s “choice no-fault” insurance system adds complexity to recovery. Motorcyclists are generally excluded from the no-fault benefits that cover injured drivers and passengers in standard vehicles. As a result, riders often rely on their health insurance or uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage after a crash. When another driver’s negligence is to blame, injured motorcyclists can pursue a personal injury lawsuit seeking damages for medical bills, lost income, long-term rehabilitation, and pain and suffering.

Because fault can be contested and biases against motorcyclists persist, early evidence preservation is critical. Skid marks may fade, helmet cams or traffic footage might be deleted, and insurance adjusters may downplay injuries. Immediate steps—like photographing the scene, identifying witnesses, and obtaining a police report—can significantly strengthen a claim. Pennsylvania allows two years from the date of the accident to file suit, but delays can compromise the outcome, especially when insurers push for lowball settlements.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a motorcycle crash, prioritize emergency care, then take steps to protect your legal rights. A seasoned attorney familiar with motorcycle injury cases can help uncover all available insurance, document the full extent of harm, and pursue the financial recovery you need to heal—physically, emotionally, and financially—so you can get back on the road with peace of mind.
