Wilkes-Barre Twp, PA – Man Identified in Deadly Collision on I-81 at Highland Park Blvd

Wilkes-Barre Township, PA (August 25, 2025) – The victim in a fatal car crash that happened on Saturday morning, August 23, in Wilkes-Barre Township has been identified.

According to the Luzerne County coroner, 26-year-old Adam Shaw was killed after the crash occurred on the Interstate 81 exit ramp at Exit 168 at Highland Park Boulevard at around 2:30 a.m. Shaw was apparently a passenger in the incident, but authorities say it is unknown at this time how many other people were in the vehicle or the extent of other injuries. That said, the investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and witnesses were asked to step forward.

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased man’s loved ones. Our thoughts are also with the injured victims and their family members at this time.

Deadly Auto Accidents in Pennsylvania

Each year, fatal car accidents claim hundreds of lives on Pennsylvania’s roadways. From congested urban streets in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to winding rural roads in the Allegheny Mountains, deadly crashes occur with alarming frequency. For families who lose a loved one in a collision, the emotional and financial consequences can be overwhelming. No one is prepared for such a sudden tragedy—and no family should have to navigate the aftermath alone.

These fatal crashes often result from preventable behaviors such as distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving, or reckless maneuvers. In winter, icy conditions and poor visibility heighten the risk on both highways and secondary roads. When negligence plays a role, surviving family members may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim to seek justice and compensation. Pennsylvania law allows close relatives—such as spouses, children, and parents—to bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the at-fault driver or other responsible parties.

Moreover, these claims can help recover damages for funeral and burial expenses, lost income, medical costs incurred before death, and the emotional pain of losing a cherished family member. However, successfully pursuing these claims requires a deep understanding of the legal process and a careful investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
