Indiana Co., PA – Man Killed in Hit-and-Run on Old Rte 119

Indiana County, PA (September 7, 2025) – A 30-year-old man tragically lost his life after a hit-and-run crash on Friday night, September 5, in White Township.

Pennsylvania State Police said the crash happened just before midnight on Old Route 119 Highway South near Johnson Road. Troopers identified the victim as Bryan William Daniel Boyd of Homer City.

Investigators reported that Boyd was walking in the southbound travel lane when a 2002 Toyota Tacoma struck him. The impact threw him onto the roadway, causing fatal injuries. First responders arrived quickly and provided medical care. Despite their efforts, Boyd died at the scene.

Authorities noted that the stretch of roadway had poor lighting and limited visibility. The Tacoma came over a small hill before hitting the pedestrian, which may have contributed to the collision.

The investigation into this deadly crash remains ongoing.

We extend our deepest condolences to Boyd’s family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time.

Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Pennsylvania

Fatal pedestrian accidents are among the most devastating tragedies on Pennsylvania’s roadways. Unlike drivers and passengers inside vehicles, pedestrians have no protection when a crash occurs. Even at lower speeds, the force of impact can lead to catastrophic or deadly injuries.

In Pennsylvania, hundreds of pedestrians die every year after being struck by vehicles. Factors such as distracted driving, speeding, drunk driving, and failing to yield at crosswalks play major roles in these fatal crashes. Poor lighting and reduced visibility also make nighttime walking especially dangerous.

The aftermath of a fatal pedestrian accident leaves families reeling. Beyond grief, loved ones often face sudden financial hardships such as funeral costs, medical bills, and lost income. No family is ever truly prepared for such a sudden loss.

When negligence causes a pedestrian death, Pennsylvania law allows surviving family members to file a wrongful death claim. These claims can hold the at-fault driver accountable and provide compensation for funeral expenses, medical costs, lost future income, and the profound loss of companionship.
