The crash took place around 10 p.m. when a northbound motorcycle, reportedly traveling at high speeds, ran a red light and struck a car that was turning left out of the shopping center, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The motorcyclist, identified as Brandon Booher, 19, of Beaver, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment.

Motorcycle Crashes in Beaver County and Surrounding Areas

Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable drivers on Pennsylvania roadways, particularly along busy highways such as Route 51. Factors that often contribute to serious or fatal motorcycle crashes include:

  • Speeding: Excessive speed reduces reaction time and increases crash severity.

  • Failure to obey traffic signals: Running red lights or stop signs can cause devastating collisions.

  • Limited protection: Motorcyclists lack the safety features of passenger vehicles, making them more susceptible to fatal injuries.

  • High-traffic intersections: Shopping plazas and major routes see frequent turning movements, which can heighten the risk of collisions.

Motorcyclists are encouraged to follow traffic laws, wear protective gear, and remain vigilant to reduce the risk of serious injuries. Drivers should also exercise caution, especially at intersections and during nighttime hours.

If you or a loved one were injured in a motorcycle accident, it is important to seek medical attention right away and understand your legal rights. A knowledgeable Pittsburgh wrongful accident lawyer can help guide you through insurance claims and pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
