Is There An HIV/Aids Epidemic In Pittsburgh?

There are 150 new cases of HIV/Aids in Allegheny County each year, with no signs of decline. Ever wonder how one gets tested for HIV? A tooth brush like device is placed inside one’s mouth between the teeth and cheek for 2 to 5 minutes. The swab is then sent to a lab for analysis. Then you get the results.

Child Abuse – Archdiocese’s Confidentiality Request In Sex Abuse Case Denied

A Judge has denied the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s attempts to get a confidentiality order on the civil lawsuit alleging sexual abuse against the Diocese. The lawsuit contends that the Archdiocese knew that one of its priests had previously abused children before he was transferred to the Archdiocese where the abuse continued. We certainly do these kinds of cases or any case in which a person was physically abused.

Philadelphia Tragedy – $4.15 Million Settlement In Case of Boy Run Over And Killed In Pennsylvania

The estate of a 10 year-old boy killed when 2 cars driven by company employees, with drugs in their system, collided and then ran the boy over, has settled for $4.15 million. The tragedy occurred in Philadelphia. Post accident drug testing revealed that one of the drivers had heroin in his system. The other had marijuana in his system.

If you wonder why the settlement was so high, consider that after the impact the poor boy’s body was dragged underneath the truck across a parking lot.

Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed In Construction Site Accident

A North Carolina lawsuit has been filed after a 2015 accident that left 3 construction workers dead from the collapse of a scaffolding unit. The suit claims protocols for operating scaffolds were not followed by the contractors. Also, the scaffolding was taken down a day early which compromised the safety of the job site. The 3 men were killed when the scaffolding collapsed and they fell from the 11 story building.

Football Concussions and Wrongful Death Claim

The parents of a high school student who died when he was hit during a football game, have sued the local high school, emergency responders, medical providers and the state athletic association for their child’s wrongful death. Their child had a recognizable concussion from a hit in the first half of the game. He walked off the field wobbly and collapsed on the bench. Incredibly, later in the second half he was sent back in and sustained the fatal second hit.

Product Liability Law – $10.3 Million Jury Verdict In Favor Of Victim

A jury awarded $10.3 million to a man injured when the elevator he was in malfunctioned and he fell 2 stories. The victim was working as a master carpenter when the elevator malfunctioned. As a result of falling 2 stories in the elevator, he suffered permanent injuries to his spinal cord. Yes we do product liability cases like this. Call us.
