DEPOSITION TACTICS: DEFENDANT DENIES ANY AND ALL WRONGDOING:
Michael recently deposed a Defendant who was driving under the influence when she struck a vehicle operated by our client. The Defendant even PLED GUILTY to driving drunk in her criminal case! However, when Michael asked her questions at her deposition, she completely denied responsibility for causing the collision! The Defendant must have thought that denying the fact that she was drunk at the time of the accident was in her best interest. But instead, she came off very poorly. One of Michael’s best questions was “why did you plead guilty to driving under the influence if you were, in fact, not drunk at the time of the collision?” The pause was an eternity. Way to go Michael!

AMERICA’S PASTIME: BASEBALL’S 2020 SEASON IN JEOPARDY?
Major League Baseball may be the least likely of the four major sports (NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB) to return in 2020 as negotiations between the Owners and Players have currently reached an impasse. The core dispute between the parties seems to be about – you guessed it – MONEY! We think they will work it out. Also, how do you like the Penguins playoff chances this year? How about the Steelers? WHAT IS THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE IN THE LAW & LITIGATION?
Mediation Both sides have an interest in trying to mediate cases as opposed to going through with a full blown jury trial in auto accident cases. Why? Primarily from the Defense side mediation saves them $$. From the Plaintiff’s side mediation is good because you are sure of the settlement $$. That is not the case in a jury trial where the outcome is always in doubt.
