THANK YOU READERS: We wish to gratefully thank Nellie N., Nicole P., Bobby R. and Susan M. for their kind referrals! Referrals are what keeps us going. So thank you all. We really appreciate it!

WHAT IS NEW AT THE TULLY LAW FIRM – ATV AND DIRT BIKE DEATH CASES:

We have had several cases recently where our clients were riding an ATV or Dirt Bike and were killed while riding on a public roadway. They were struck and killed by a negligent driver. Even though it is clear that the other driver was at fault for causing the accident the insurance companies usually deny liability because ATVs and Dirt Bikes are not authorized to be driven on public roadways. ATV and Dirt Bike accidents usually result in severe injuries or even death to the person on the ATV or bike. Surely riding an ATV or Dirt Bike on the roadways doesn’t excuse the other driver from killing someone! Call us today for a free evaluation. No Recovery/No Fee.

YOU BE THE JUDGE – STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS QUESTION:

Most people know in Pennsylvania you generally have 2 years to file a lawsuit against another for your injuries. If you fail to do it within that time period, you have generally waived your right forever to receive money for your injuries. So what happens if the 2 year date falls on a Saturday or Sunday? If you fail to file the lawsuit the last work day before that, which is Friday, have you blown the statute? No. The law says when your 2 year statute anniversary falls on a weekend or a holiday, you get until the following day to file the lawsuit. Whew!

DO YOU WANT TO LEARN THE LAW? – THERE ARE 2 PARTS TO EVERY PERSONAL INJURY CASE:

1)WHO CAUSED THE ACCIDENT AND 2)WHAT ARE THE DAMAGES:

These two factors apply to every personal injury case. The 1st step is the most important because the other party must be at fault for causing the collision for you to collect $$. A perfect example is a rear-end collision, where the person that hits you from behind is clearly the wrongdoer. The 2nd part of a personal injury case is damages, or how has the accident affected you. A good measure of damages is how much medical treatment you get as a result of the injuries you sustained in the accident. Another part of your claim  is your lost wages if you are unable to work as a result of your injuries. The greater the impact on your life, the greater your $$ offer usually is.

HOW ARE YOU ENJOYING YOUR COVID-19 SUMMER?

Have you gone anywhere on vacation? A possible idea is to try Oglebay in West Virginia. Has any one been there? It is beautiful!

THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS BEGIN THEIR MARCH TO THE STANLEY CUP:

On August 1st the Penguins will begin a 5-game playoff series against the Montreal Canadians in Toronto. All of the Eastern Conference playoff teams will compete in a “bubble” in Toronto, while the Western Conference playoff teams will be based in Edmonton. This will be an exciting experience because no one really knows what to expect due to the long layoff. I know the Pens have as good a shot as any team out there. Do you agree?

PITTSBURGH PIRATES BASEBALL IS BACK:

With only a 60 game schedule this year maybe the Bucs will make the playoffs!

HISTORICAL EVENTS IN AUGUST: THE ERUPTION OF MT. VESUVIUS:

On August 24, 79 A.D. the Roman city of Pompeii was suddenly struck by a volcanic explosion from Mt. Vesuvius and was wiped off the map. The city is forever connected to the explosion. Our family was lucky enough to visit the site years ago and it was amazing!

JOKE OF THE MONTH:

What does the dentist of the year get?

A little plaque!

UNIQUE WORD OF THE MONTH:

Calescent – adjective. Growing warm or increasing in heat. The woman stood, with her arms raised straight above her head, her face lifted to the calescent sun’s rays.

ZANTAC AND CANCER:

As we have previously mentioned, the FDA issued a Zantac Recall because some ingredients in it may be cancer causing agents. If you have used Zantac for a long period of time and have recently been diagnosed with cancer, please contact us.

JURY TRIALS IN ALLEGHENY COUNTY:

All trials for injury cases in Allegheny County have been postponed for the forseeable future. Should we have jury trials now in the Covid-19 environment? If you were summoned for jury duty how would you feel about it?

CONGRATULATIONS TO: Cynthia T. on answering last month’s question and winning a $50.00 check.

NOW FOR YOUR CHANCE: How many days are in August? Come on, it is easy.
