While things are starting to open up again with more of the population receiving vaccinations, we understand that some of our clients are still apprehensive about in-person meetings, including with their treating physicians. However, that will not necessarily hurt the value of your case because Zoom can actually increase your case value while maintaining social distancing!
Lately, many clients have been asking us how they can prove that they are getting treatment for their accident-related injuries but aren’t able to go into their physician’s office. I’ve told you before that insurance companies will not consider home exercises as real physical therapy. They think everybody is lying about doing their exercises at home and you get zero credit for it.
The dilemma in this coronavirus environment is a lot of these health care providers are shut down and are not taking patients. Physicians will tell clients, “Give us a call when you’re done with your exercises to let us know if you had a good day, or if you’re hurting.” So, what do you do if you’re hurting and want to receive in-person treatment? And how do you get credit for the treatment that you’re receiving so the insurance company has proof when they’re evaluating your claim?
A client had an epiphany moment and called to tell us her great idea to solve this problem! Even though she was still hurting and could not go to her physical therapist’s office in person, the doctor had a great solution. They are doing videos for her physical therapy treatments through Zoom. It works like this: the client is in their home on one end of the camera and with a physical therapist on the other instructing the client what to do. This allows the doctor to document the exercises that our client completed and add it to her records. This way you will get credit from the insurance company because the doctor was able to report it without having to leave your home! The insurance companies can then give you credit for receiving treatment, which will hopefully lead to the insurance company making a fair offer for what you went through.
Therefore, instead of promising the insurance companies that you are telling the truth, you’re getting this physical therapy at home that is documented by the therapist. I highly recommend you talk to your physical therapist, chiropractor, or medical doctor about using Zoom video so it can be recorded. This would give you, the injured victim, credit for partaking in your exercises that take place at your home so you get the money you deserve. Don’t let the Coronavirus stop you; use Zoom to increase your case value!
