Injury Auto Accidents in Pennsylvania

Common causes of car accidents in Pennsylvania include distracted driving, speeding, reckless behavior, and adverse weather conditions. With heavy traffic in cities like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, fender benders and multi-vehicle crashes are frequent. Additionally, in winter, rural areas often see accidents caused by deer crossings, poor visibility, and icy roads.

Pennsylvania follows a choice no-fault insurance system, meaning drivers can opt for limited or full tort coverage. Limited tort restricts the ability to sue for pain and suffering unless the injuries are severe, while full tort allows for greater legal action. Understanding your insurance policy is crucial in determining the options available after an accident.

After a crash, drivers should prioritize safety by checking for injuries, calling 911, and moving to a secure location if possible. Reporting the accident to law enforcement is essential, as a police report can be valuable when filing insurance claims. Gathering evidence, such as photos, witness statements, and medical records, can also be helpful if legal action is necessary.

Understanding Pennsylvania’s traffic laws and insurance rules can make a difficult situation more manageable, whether dealing with minor damage or significant losses. Staying informed and prepared can help protect your rights and financial well-being after an accident.
